Processing and receiving specimens into the laboratory computer system in the Central Processing area of the lab.

Responsibilities
- 1. To obtain blood samples from patients by venipuncture or skin puncture observing proper phlebotomy technique and patient identification policies. Responding immediately to STAT requests and drawing other specimens in a timely manner.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
High School Diploma is required. College or technical school courses are preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Previous phlebotomy experience preferred(2 years). Computer familiarity and keyboard skills are required. A friendly caring personality is necessary for public relations.
LICENSURE
Certification is phlebotomy is a plus but not required.
SPECIAL SKILLS
The phlebotomy activity requires manual dexterity with an excellent fine motor skills. Working with patients directly, a great deal of emphases is placed on patient interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Phlebotomy may require extended periods of standing bent over patients, walking throughout the hospital carrying a basket and using the stairs. Computer work in an average laboratory setting. May be required to enter isolation rooms using proper isolation technique including proper mask fitting.
