Works under the patient care manager/clinical coordinator. The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual patient care on a nursing unit according to policy and procedure.

Qualifications
EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. Proficient in use of computer software to include electronic patient records. Must have ability to use internet for literature searches regarding care for patients.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of acute care medical/surgical experience required. Previous intravenous therapy preferred. PICC competency is required within 6 months.
LICENSURE
Valid state of RI RN license
SPECIAL SKILLS
PICC insertion, Responsible for implementation and documentation of IV therapy as directed by physician orders and established policies and procedures. Assesses patient for IV therapy needs and inserts appropriate vascular access device accordingly. Functions as a charge nurse. Demonstrates knowledge of central venous access devices and their maintenance. Demonstrates knowledge of mechanical controlling devices and blood/blood component therapy. Serves as an educational resource in IV therapy. Participates in maintaining quality/clinical indicators. Demonstrates competency in autologous donor selection/collection and therapeutic phlebotomy.
