Under the direction of the Nurse Manager is responsible for maintaining an appropriate quantity of supplies related to the newborn screening program. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities
- 1. Maintains established par levels of supplies and equipment as needed for newborn screening.
- 1.1 Orders internal supplies according to departmental schedule as evidenced by feedback from staff and supervisory observation.
- 2. Maintains accurate, timely and courteous communications.
- 2.1 Answers telephone ina courteous and prompt manner as observed by RN, physicians, and feedback.
- 3. Maintains logs and statistical reports as required by specific unit.
- 3.1 Updates appropriate logs as observed by supervisor.
- 4. Demonstrates development in his/her daily activity.
- 4.1 Participates in nursing staff meetings a minimum of 8 times per year as observed by supervisor.
- 5. Coordinates patient flow and related activities.
- 5.1 Properly indicates that all hearing tests were completed.
- 6. Performs clerical /secretarial duties as required.
- 6.1 All hearing results are reported to the State.
- 7. Performs similar or related duties as required or directed.
- 7.1 Works with the Birth Certificate Registrar in collecting information for the birth certificates and transmits information to the State.
- 8. Completes non-therapeutic functions under the direction of MD, PA, APRN or RN.
- 8.1 Remove medication(s) from the pneumatic tube system sent from the Pharmacy or Hospital Supply to the unit/patient care area.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Healthcare experience with 1-3 years working with newborns preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Good interpersonal and communication skills. Basic computer skills. Successful completion of orientation.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. They are also required to stand and walk. They must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities require include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
