What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rope Splicer / Machine Operator - 2nd Shift position at Yale Cordage Inc?

Job Summary:
The primary role of Rope Splicer is production of basic splices unassisted, while Machine Operators perform production steps associated with operating twisting, winding, braiding and/or finishing machines.

This role will be trained for both functions, and will float between Rigging and Machine Operation based upon production needs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic splices, double braid splices, single braid splices and Yale whiplock
  • Obtain and maintain splicer certification
  • Inspect and approve product as suitable before adding any additional value
  • Reconcile and understand description, bills of materials, and picture maintenance
  • Operate and monitor machines to ensure they are running efficiently and producing high-quality products; follow machine specific preventive maintenance schedules
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to keep them in optimal condition
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the production process
  • Comply with Company quality assurance expectations and packaging requirements
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines

Experience:

  • Timeliness and consistent dependability in arrival to work for each shift.
  • Rope experience is desired but not required
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experience with or ability to learn to read drawing
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude a plus.
  • Ability to follow detailed operating instructions and perform basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)Previous splicing and rigging experience a plus
  • Attention to detail and craftsmanship
  • Ability to learn and utilize Yale’s quality assurance expectations and packaging requirements.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Full finger and hand dexterity
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Ability to bend, stand, kneel, twist, pull and work overhead. (Standing for over 90% of workday
