As an Accounting Specialist, you’ll play an important role in supporting the library’s financial operations and helping ensure our resources are managed accurately, efficiently, and responsibly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Customer Service: Welcomes and serves library patrons with high-quality customer service, ensuring an inclusive and friendly environment, and addressing customer needs promptly and without bias.
- Accounting Functions: Performs a range of accounting and operational tasks including purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, grant administration, and auditing; conducts account reconciliations and prepares related worksheets.
- Confidentiality: Maintains the confidentiality of library and employee information.
- Record Maintenance: Maintains records, blanket purchase orders, and maintenance agreements; generates reports as needed.
- Routine Account Reconciliations: Conducts routine account reconciliations and prepares deposits, invoices, payments, and worksheets.
- Objective Development: Assists in developing objectives for the accounting department.
- Work Planning: Plans and prioritizes daily work assignments; may assist in providing instruction and direction as required.
- Surplus Sales and Inventory: Assists with surplus sales and maintains inventory records and fixed asset reports.
- Donation Handling: Handles donations and prepares corresponding reports as directed.
- Office Machinery Operation: Operates office machinery, including photocopiers, printers, and mail equipment; may handle filing tasks.
- Mail and Deposits: May be required to deliver mail to the post office or take deposits to the County building.
- Meeting Participation: Attends meetings and participates in various committees.
- Professional Development: Keeps up with library developments by attending workshops, educational programs, and reading relevant literature.
- Cross-Training: May cross-train in other accounting functions as assigned.
- Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
