What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Systems Analyst position at Yakima Valley Libraries?
In coordination with the IT Manager, this position will assist and is responsible for analyzing and monitoring technology and cloud systems, leading assigned technology projects, maintaining computer hardware inventory, assisting with network administration and support, and providing IT support to Yakima Valley Libraries staff. The role contributes to the Library’s strategic direction, addressing complex issues in a changing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Technology Systems Analysis and Monitoring: Analyzes and monitors technology and cloud systems, recommending changes or upgrades to the IT Manager.
- Project Leadership: Leads the planning and implementation of assigned technology projects in coordination with department staff
- Equipment and Software Recommendations: Researches and recommends equipment and software purchases, contributing to replacement schedules.
- Documentation and Procedure Updates: Documents procedures and updates procedure manuals and other forms of written documentation.
- Helpdesk Support: Responds to requests for hardware and software assistance from staff and maintains helpdesk records.
- Server and Network Administration: Assists with monitoring, operating, installing, configuring, and securing server and network hardware and software.
- Staff Training: Trains staff on the use of computer hardware and software as needed.
- Technological Development Awareness: Keeps current with technological developments through seminars, educational programs, and reading.
- Meeting and Committee Participation: Attends meetings and participates in assigned committees.
- Strategic Contribution: Participates in the creation and communication of the Library’s vision and strategic priorities.
- Performs additional duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five years of experience supporting computers, servers, software, networks, and networking equipment.
- Five years of technology-related project management experience.
- Two years of experience in cybersecurity in a networked environment preferred.
- Two years of experience working in libraries preferred.
- Project Management: Advanced knowledge of goal setting and project management principles.
- Cybersecurity and Network Knowledge: Understanding of technology forensics, cybersecurity, network storage, backup, and file services.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, UNIX/Linux, Windows operating systems, and Microsoft cloud resources.
- Server Administration: Knowledge of Exchange, IIS, firewalls, routers, switches, and other back-office applications.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technology issues.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and handle multiple responsibilities.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with staff and external contacts.
- Customer Service Skills: Ability to provide excellent service in resolving technology challenges.
- Attendance and Dependability: Consistently attend work and perform duties reliably.

Compensation and Benefits
- The pay for this position spans from $26.52-37.81/ hour depending on qualifications.
