Are you passionate about education and eager to make a difference across multiple settings? The Yakima School District is hiring Floater Paraeducators to support students in a dynamic, day-to-day capacity. This position involves working across various schools and programs, with assignments changing based on district needs. Most placements will be in Special Education or 504 settings, though you may occasionally assist in other programs.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- AA degree or higher or two years of study at an institution of higher education or complete and pass the State ESEA (Elementary & Secondary Education Act) Assessment Test for Paraeducators. Must meet one out of these two criterias.
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist the teacher with instruction and activities within the classroom
- Supervise students on or about the school premises as assigned by the principal or designee
- Work as a member of a team of teachers and paraeducators
- Assist in maintaining records and process paperwork as needed
- Actively participate in staff development activities as requested
- Implement instructional and/or behavioral strategies developed by the teacher
- Communicate with parents
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Assist in lifting over 50 pounds
- May be required to toilet, diaper, feed, and lift (physical positioning)
- Other duties as assigned by the principal
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay $23.34-$33.59 per hour
- Individuals with an AA degree are eligible for a $75 monthly stipend upon submission of official transcripts.
- Individuals with a Bachelor Degree or higher are eligible for a $100 monthly stipend upon submission of official transcripts.
- Upon hiring, may qualify for reimbursement of fingerprinting expense.
- Qualifies for benefits under the Yakima Association of Paraeducators (YAP). All benefits are subject to the Association’s Collective Bargaining Agreement for full-time employees.
