Hiring Range: $22.58 – $23.96/hour (Steps 1–4 DOQ)

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career that makes a real difference in the lives of young people? Yakima County Juvenile Court is seeking a Female Juvenile Corrections Officer I to join our team!
This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and rehabilitation of youth in our Juvenile Detention Facility. You’ll work directly with residents, help maintain order, and support positive behavioral change — all while contributing to a safe and respectful environment.
This is a 24-hour facility, so flexibility is key — you’ll work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
What You’ll Do:
- Supervise and interact with juveniles in a secure facility.
- Maintain order, safety, and security for staff and youth.
- Conduct searches, inspections, and facility patrols.
- De-escalate conflicts and use sound judgment under pressure.
- Support youth through communication, problem-solving, and mentorship.
- Document incidents, monitor behavior, and report concerns.
What We’re Looking For:
- Must be female (for privacy and safety during searches).
- Age 21 or older with a High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication, patience, and decision-making skills.
- Valid WA State Driver’s License.
- Must pass a background check, physical ability test (PAT), and polygraph.
- Ability to complete required First Aid/CPR, TB testing, and training within set timeframes.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Experience in corrections, detention, or youth services.
- Completion of the WA State Juvenile Corrections Personnel Academy (within 6 months of hire).
