Public Health Nurse Practitioner

The ideal candidate will play a key role in promoting and protecting community health through advanced clinical practice, preventive care, and community outreach. This position combines clinical expertise with a focus on public health initiatives to enhance overall community well-being.
\nExamples of work Performed:
\nProvide advanced nursing care to individuals and families, emphasizing preventive and primary care.
\nDiagnose and manage acute and chronic health conditions, collaborating with other healthcare professionals as needed.
\nConduct community health assessments and identify public health needs.
\nDevelop and implement health education programs to address community health concerns.
\nAdminister vaccinations and conduct screenings to prevent and detect health issues.
\nPromote healthy behaviors and lifestyles through counseling and education.
\nCollaborate with local healthcare providers, community organizations, and public health agencies to enhance coordinated care.
\nNetwork with community leaders to build partnerships and address health disparities.
\nParticipate in epidemiological investigations to identify and control the spread of infectious diseases.
\nImplement measures to prevent and manage outbreaks within the community.
\nAdvocate for public health policies that promote community well-being.
\nStay informed about local, state, and national health policies and contribute to policy development.
\nDesign and implement health promotion initiatives, targeting specific populations or health concerns.
\nEngage in community-based initiatives to improve health outcomes.
\nProvide training and education to healthcare professionals, community members, and other stakeholders on public health topics.
\nStay updated on best practices and evidence-based interventions in public health nursing.
\nProvide Medication Assisted Treatment for patients experiencing opioid use disorders or alcohol use disorders.
\nMonitors and accurately records client information and condition in Indian Health Service Electronic Health Records which are maintained by Indian Health Service.
\nSupervise and assists in Nail Care Clinics.
\nOther duties as assigned by THO Deputy Director.
\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
\nKnowledge of clinical nursing experience, including public or community health nursing.
\nKnowledge of leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
\nStrong knowledge of public health principles, healthcare regulations, and community resources.
\nExcellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
\nProficiency in data analysis and computer applications.
\nAbility to adapt to changing healthcare environments and priorities.
\nKnowledge, skills, and abilities to input patient information in Electronic Health Records.
\nKnowledge of budgeting, grants, and contracts, and detailed reporting requirements on behalf of program.
\nKnowledge of Community/Public Health, Yakama Nation Tribal Health, and Indian Health Services policies and procedures.
\nKnowledge of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
\nMinimum Requirements:
\nMaster's degree in Nursing with a focus on Public Health.
\nCurrent and valid Nurse Practitioner license.
\nCertification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
\nExperience in public health nursing, community health, or a related field.
\nMust pass Indian Health Services background check.
\nRequired to pass pre-employment background check.
\nMust possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
\nRequired to pass a pre-employment drug test.
\nPreferred Requirements:
\nUp to date on CEU's per state requirements.
\nUp to date on first aid/CPR certification.
\nEnrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
