Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and hazardous materials regulations.
- Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes for efficient delivery schedules while adapting to real-time traffic updates.
- Transport gravel and dirt in accordance with all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before departure and after arrival.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route changes, delivery status, or safety concerns during transit.
- Ensure proper truck loading and unloading procedures are followed to prevent damage or safety hazards during freight handling.
Experience
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record demonstrating safe driving habits.
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks on long-distance routes with a focus on route driving efficiency.
- Familiarity with dump trucks, and automobile transportation is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of manual transmission operation and manual handling techniques for cargo management.
- Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling protocols.
- Prior experience with truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling is advantageous.
- Ability to navigate using GPS systems confidently while managing route adjustments as needed.
- Strong commitment to safety standards, vehicle maintenance routines, and regulatory compliance throughout all phases of operation.
