Position Overview:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Propane forklifts and Pallet Jacks for receiving, handling, stacking, shipping, and storing company products – rackingsystem (metal products) and its accessories. This position also includes loading goods for customer pickups, loading and unloading containers, and is responsible for packing daily orders and assembling uprights, among other key tasks. The core objective is to ensure smooth material flow, accurate inventory, high operational and producing efficiency, and strict adherence to company safety policies and OSHA standards in all work, aiming for zero accidents and zero errors.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Core Material Handling & Storage (Safe, Efficient, Low Error Rate)
- Strictly adhere to company safety policies and OSHA standards, operating Propane forklifts and Pallet Jacks safely and efficiently for the loading, unloading, handling, stacking, and storage of large racking system (metal products) and their accessories. Forklift shall be examined before being used.
- Efficiently and accurately count and receive goods, sorting and orderly stacking received goods into designated storage areas to maximize warehouse space and ensure accessibility and safety.
- Efficiently and accurately retrieve specified goods from storage areas according to outbound instructions, pack them according to order quantities, and safely transport them to the shipping area. Subsequently, re-verify to ensure outbound goods match the order, reducing error rates.
- Throughout the material handling process, strictly follow cargo weight, size limitations, and stacking height requirements to minimize the risk of cargo damage and safety incidents. Do not stand or walk under a load, jump off docks, pickup trucks, forklifts or other elevated surfaces.
- When lifting a load, always check for any overhead obstructions that might be damaged or cause the load to spill or topple the truck.
Order Fulfillment & Customer Service (Accurate, Timely)
- Efficiently and accurately pack daily orders, ensuring packaging is secure, meets company shipping standards, and that order contents and quantities are correct.
- Responsible for safely and efficiently loading goods onto customer vehicles for pickup, assisting customers in verifying goods, and providing necessary assistance to ensure the safety and accuracy of the loading process.
- Proficiently operate Propane forklifts and Pallet Jacks for container loading and unloading operations, ensuring goods are safely and efficiently loaded into or unloaded from containers, and preventing any damage to goods or containers.
Product Assembly & Maintenance (Quality, Efficiency)
- Responsible for preparing the accurate upright Columns and accessories to be assembled and packing the finished products and moving them to the designated area after assembly.
- Accurately and efficiently assemble uprights according to operating guidelines, ensuring product quality and structural stability, and complying with company quality standards.
- Assist with site organization, cleaning, and maintenance work to ensure the work area is tidy and safe.
Equipment Operation & Daily Maintenance (Safe, Reliable)
- Perform daily routine checks of Propane forklifts and Pallet Jacks (including operator controls, braking systems, fluid levels, lights, safety devices, backup horns, and the movement of the fork) to ensure equipment is always in good working condition, improving operational efficiency and safety.
- Unless qualified, the operator shall not attempt to make any repairs.
- Promptly and accurately report equipment malfunctions or unusual conditions to the supervisor and assist with simple cleaning tasks.
- Properly safeguard and use company property, taking care of forklifts and Pallet Jack equipment to reduce maintenance costs.
- After completing daily work or when parking for extended periods, forklifts must be parked in designated areas. When parking a forklift, always remove the key; turn off the lights, and strictly prohibit leaving the forklift running unattended. (No forklift lights would be able to off automatically)
- An overhead guard shall be used as protection against falling objects.
- A load backrest extension shall be used whenever necessary to minimize the possibility of the load or part of it falling rearward.
Strict Adherence to Safety Regulations (Safety First, Zero Tolerance)
- Unconditionally comply with the company's "Warehouse Safety Policy," all OSHA regulations, and all traffic and warning signs.
- Always wear company-mandated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes and reflective vests when operating a forklift.
- Always driving the forklifts with seat belts on.
- Maintain high vigilance for pedestrians and other vehicles in the operating area, sound the horn when necessary to warn, always yield the right of way to pedestrians, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead (approximately three forklift lengths) to eliminate safety hazards.
- Maintain a safe distance (recommended 3’-5’) from the edge of ramps or platforms while on any elevated dock, or platform or freight car.
- Assure efficient headroom under overhead installations, lights, pipes, sprinkler systems, etc.
- Observe all traffic safety rules, including authorized plant speed limits.
- Never place arms or legs between the uprights of the mast or outside the running lines of the forklift.
- Never operate a forklift with an overload; standing on a forklift or adding counterweights to compensate for an overload will not be permitted.
- Slow down and sound the horn at cross aisles, blind spots, or other dangerous locations; never pass other forklifts traveling in the same direction at these locations.
- Travel the load trailing if the load being carried obstructs forward view.
- Operate at a speed, under all travel conditions, that will permit the forklift to be brought to a stop in a safe manner, and slow down for wet and slippery floors.
- Properly secure dock board or bridge plates before they are driven over.
- Never allow people to stand or pass under the elevated portion of any forklift, whether loaded or empty.
- Under no circumstances operate a forklift through or park it in fire aisles, access to stairways, or near fire equipment.
- When parking, do not park closer than eight feet from the center of railroad tracks.
- Never use a forklift for opening or closing freight doors.
- Never allow any person to ride on forklift except the operator, unless the forklift has provisions for passengers.
- Never operate a forklift while using prescription or over-the-counter medications that may interfere with the safe operation of the forklift in any manner.
- Never drive a forklift up to anyone standing in front of a bench or other fixed object.
- Never run over loose objects on the roadway.
- Strictly prohibit using mobile phones while operating a forklift.
- Never push or tow other forklifts, unless directed by a qualified professional.
Warehouse Management & Team Collaboration (Collaboration, Efficiency)
- Daily wear company-required Personal Protective Equipment and company uniform.
- Actively participate in daily warehouse organization, maintaining extreme tidiness and orderliness of storage areas, aisles, and work areas to improve goods retrieval efficiency and reduce safety hazards.
- Assist with inventory counting to ensure high consistency between physical stock and system records, reducing inventory error rates.
- Maintain effective and clear communication with the Warehouse Manager and other operators to ensure smooth and efficient workflows.
- Obey work assignments and scheduling from superiors, actively cooperating with the team to complete various tasks.

Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- At least 3-5 years (or more) of practical experience operating Propane forklifts and Pallet Jacks, with preference given to those experienced in handling large items (e.g., metal products, warehouse racking).
- Experience in container loading/unloading, customer vehicle loading, and daily order packing.
- Basic experience with tool usage and upright assembly.
Qualifications:
- Holds a valid and current 100% OSHA compliant Certified third-party Forklift Operator certification/license.
- Possesses a safe driving record.
Skills:
- Proficient in operating Propane forklifts and Pallet Jacks, and knowledgeable in all safety regulations.
- Good English reading and writing skills, capable of accurately understanding operation manuals, work instructions, and inbound/outbound documents.
- Extremely strong safety awareness, sense of responsibility, and attention to detail, capable of maintaining high efficiency and extremely low error rates under pressure.
- Good spatial awareness, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent teamwork spirit and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to withstand physical work in a warehouse environment, including prolonged standing, sitting, bending, and lifting (occasionally requiring assistance for moving or adjusting goods).
