Senior Cable Manufacturing Engineer
Job Summary
Responsible for leading engineering development, process optimization, and technical manufacturing support for custom cable assemblies, wire harnesses, RF cables, USB Type-C cables, over molded assemblies, and electromechanical interconnect products. This role will drive NPI introduction, process validation, tooling/fixture development, yield improvement, cost reduction, supplier qualification, and manufacturing automation while supporting both prototype and mass production programs.
Responsibilities:
. Prepare PPAP, IMDS, and other customer-required project documentation in accordance with product and compliance requirements.
. Plan, design, and implement production fixtures, tooling, and assembly aids to improve manufacturing efficiency, consistency, and output.
. Prepare, maintain, and record project-specific engineering documentation, process data, and manufacturing technical information.
. Develop and optimize SOP, work instructions, BOM review, routing, assembly process flow, and quality checkpoints.
. Optimize manufacturing methods for: wire cutting/stripping, crimping, soldering, braiding, shielding termination, ultrasonic welding, over molding, continuity/Hi-pot testing
. Design and validate tooling, fixtures, jigs, and semi-auto/auto production equipment.
. Support NPI builds from prototype to pilot run to MP.
. Solve daily production issues related to low yield and defects
. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies, 8D problem solving, Fishbone/root cause analysis, and manufacturing data analysis.
. Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
. Provide technical training to production teams.
. Lead multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
. Conduct DFM review with customers and internal teams.
. Lead PFMEA, control plan, process capability study, IQ/OQ/PQ, and first article validation.
. Review drawing/specification/BOM and convert into manufacturable production process.
Other duties as assigned by Management
Requirements
. 5 to 8 years cable/wire harness manufacturing experience
. Expertise in cable assembly process development, connectors, over molding, braiding/termination, automation and IPC-620
. PFMEA / validation / DFM / process troubleshooting / Lean improvement / cross-functional leadership
. 5 to 8 Years of supporting tire 1 customers including automotive, defense, medical and semi-conductor industrial customers
· Minimum Associate degree (A.A.) or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
· Good communication skills .
