Title: Cook/Residential Advisor
Supervisor: Program Director
Summary of Job Duties:
This position is responsible for ensuring the members at the RTF-A are provided with three well balanced, nutritionally based meals plus snacks each day. This position is also responsible to manage the kitchen from menu planning to cleaning to managing inventory of food as well as equipment. The cook shall also lead skills instruction for members, both in group and individual settings.
Specific Responsibilities - Cook:
- Plan and create menus to encompass three well-balanced and nutritional meals plus snacks for members each day. The cook shall consult with LPN and Program Director around nutritional content and balance of meals
- Menus must be created at least a week in advance and maintained on site for no less than seven years after completion.
- Offer substantial alternatives for those with dietary restrictions as well as those who miss meals
- Maintain all kitchen equipment in sanitary and working order
- Manage inventory of food and kitchen equipment within budget
- Monitor and document temperature of refrigerator and freezer(s)
- Work with members around their goals of menu and food preparation, to include menu planning, shopping, preparing meals and cleaning
- Facilitate weekly group on meal planning and preparation
Specific Responsibilities – Residential Advisor:
- Implement and document Member interventions and progress relative to Member Treatment Plan as it pertains to medication and ADL compliance.
- Complete Incident Reports in accordance with Project Transition/ PCS Mental Health’s Policy and Process.
- Complete progress notes for any interactions with Members and document in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) (DAP format) by the end of your covered shift.
- Facilitate/ Co-facilitate all groups as assigned and complete documentation within 24 hours of facilitating.
- Support with transporting Members per the directive of the Program.
- Support with observation of Member alcohol and drug screenings as assigned and document observations by the end of the covered shift (if applicable).
- Support Members with activities of daily living including (but not limited to) the following:
- Daily oversight and coaching of daily living activities.
- Observing Member self-administration of medication.
- Support with the development of socialization/ communication skills, conflict resolution, de-escalation skills, and utilization of crisis supports.
- Support and encourage health and home safety practices.
- Attend individual supervision sessions and program meetings as scheduled by direct supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 20 lbs. An essential function of this role involves the application of physical restraint techniques in emergency situations to prevent immediate harm to the Members or others, requiring specific training in crisis de-escalation and proper restraint methods, along with detailed incident reporting as per facility policy and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required
- 2 years’ experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry
- Able to read and follow standardized recipes
- Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
- Must have ServeSafe Certification
- Ability to remain calm and focused during crisis situations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- High energy individual with strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
- Must be a self-motivator
- Ability to self-manage
- Must possess a valid, non-commercial driver's license with a clean driving record and have the ability to operate company vehicles in accordance with safety regulations.
