Part-time/hourly (20-39 hours/week) position.
- Diagnoses and treats work-related illnesses and injuries of employees and conducts fitness-for-duty physical examinations.
- Directly supports management of the company's internal employee-oriented medical activities by conducting pre-employment physicals, check-ups, treatment of work-connected illnesses, and providing medical and surgical care in industrial accident or disease cases.
- Attends patients in plant and reexamines disability cases periodically to verify progress.
- Oversees maintenance of case histories, health examination reports, and other medical records.
- Formulates and administers health programs.
- Inspects plant and makes recommendations regarding sanitation and elimination of health hazards.
- Practices ambulatory occupational medicine (OM) by: 1) treating illnesses and injury occurring to plant employees, 2) performing new hire and periodic exams, 3) reviewing clinical records, drug screens, and health examination reports to determine fitness for duty, and 4) implementing and maintaining health programs mandated by DOE or other regulatory authority, and 5) making recommendations to mitigate safety and health hazards.
- May be responsible for a central company hospital/clinic at plant location and company pharmacies. This position is roughly 70% clinical and 30% administrative, with a 40-hour week and limited call. The clinic is AAAHC accredited and staffed by physicians, physician assistants/nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and administrative support staff. May recommend medical and health policies to avoid injury and disease. Reference 10 CFR 712, 10 CFR 1046, and 10 CFR 707, and 10 CFR 850 & 851 as major programmatic drivers for medical activities at Y-12.

- M.D./D.O. degree from an accredited medical school combined with at least 10 years of experience practicing clinical medicine.
- Must have or be able to obtain, Tennessee medical license, DEA certification, medical review officer (MRO) certification, and ACLS training. Prefer Board Eligible/Board Certified (BE/BC).
- Occupational Medicine training is preferred, but an Internal Medicine, Family Practice or Emergency Department physician with appropriate occupational medicine experience will be considered.
- Experience working in a clinical setting with diverse populations.
