What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consumer Loan Underwriter position at Y-12 FCU Brand?
Reports to: Manager, Consumer Underwriting
Supervises: 0 (Direct) 0 (Indirect)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.Approve, counter, or deny consumer loan requests while maintaining accordance with credit union policies and procedures. Actively review requests for approval/counter opportunities for borrowers of all credit tiers
2. Identify cross-sell opportunities for all qualifying consumer loan requests submitted through the Direct channel
3. Calculate verification of income when appropriate using paystubs, tax returns, or other qualified documentation. Calculate and verify appropriate consumer ratios including but not limited to debt-to-income, loan-to-value, and payment-to-income
4. Actively seek improvements to standard processes and systems, identifying possible gains for consistency, cost, and efficiency.
5. Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal as well as external partners. Possess strong communication skills to maintain and improve communication across all departments and with vendor partners including local dealerships
6. Ability to perform underwriting skills in multiple queues in a high-volume environment
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
- Two to four years of similar or related experience.
- A two year college degree or completion of extensive in-house training program, preferred.
