Role Description

XYZ Venture Capital is seeking an Investment Associate to join our New York team. In this role, you will help identify, evaluate, and partner with the next generation of exceptional technology founders.

Associates at XYZ are deeply involved across the full venture lifecycle: sourcing new opportunities, conducting rigorous diligence, supporting investment decisions, and working alongside founders as they build enduring companies. You will partner closely with the investment team to lead research and diligence while developing your own perspective on emerging technologies, markets, and founders.

Associates will develop strong pattern recognition across early stage companies and build lasting relationships within the startup ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Source unique investment opportunities from existing relationships and new ones you develop
• Support active deals through market research, financial analysis, and modeling while leveraging the XYZ founder operator network.
• Write detailed investment memos with robust founder, market, and customer diligence
• Develop deep relationships with XYZ founders by providing hands on support across hiring, fundraising, operations, strategy, and growth.
• Build relationships in the New York ecosystem and across the East Coast to find new investment opportunities and support existing portfolio companies
• Foster XYZ community through dinners and events alongside teammates

Requirements

• 2–3 years of work experience. Bonus if you have experience in VC or as an operator at an early-stage startup
• New York-based working in the NY office with Chauncey and JeanClaude
• Proficient in modeling, market-sizing, and presenting data-driven and qualitative analysis
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work seamlessly with every member of the team and portfolio founders
• A lifelong learner who always asks questions
• High ability, high humility
