What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at XTRA Lease?

As a Trailer Mechanic, your typical day would include:
- Diagnosing, servicing, and repairing all XTRA Lease equipment as indicated on repair orders and consistent with XTRA Lease repair standards.
- Performing safety and legally required inspections (FHWA/BIT).
- Maintaining parts and yard organization (with direction from operations management) to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working specifically on trailers
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working on brakes
- Must be qualified to complete FHWA inspections
- Must have a valid and current driver's license
As a Trailer Mechanic, you’ll need one year of trailer repair experience to complete FHWA inspections consistent with the Department of Transportation requirements. The people who succeed as Trailer Mechanics have knowledge of air, electronic, braking, and suspension systems as well as general knowledge of mechanical operation and body repair. Our employees enjoy consistent Monday - Friday schedules with little to no nights or weekends.
