What are the responsibilities and job description for the Future Opening: Cinematographer & Video Editor position at Xsight Productions Inc?
The Cinematographer/Editor role is responsible for upholding and improving upon the video standards of the XSIGHT brand. This is done by working closely with the project and production team leads to ensure project specifications are properly executed to XSIGHT’s standards and that the client’s needs, vision and expectations are exceeded. This is accomplished by having an in-depth understanding of XSIGHT’s mission and vision and ensuring all video projects and productions that are contracted reflect the brand promise to our clients.
**Minimum of three years experience required in the video industry and DEMO MUST BE SUBMITTED upon applying.**

Structure:
Your regular responsibilities include:
Having expert level knowledge of videography techniques, video, audio and lighting equipment and all related software
Taking the lead on video shoots across all genres

Taking the lead on-set and all shoots for video jobs

Overseeing and directing on-set crew
Able to fill multiple roles on smaller projects when needed including DP, Director and audio tech, Grip/Gaffer
Directing all on-camera subjects/talent to meet project specs when needed
Communicating with and updating clients during shoots
Keeping productions on track to meet deadlines
Ensuring all video and audio footage that is needed to be captured is accounted for
Ensuring all gear, equipment, and media are properly managed by other team members and handled on-set and accounted for prior to leaving a shoot

Is creative, flexible and experienced shooting in different environments and conditions
Can follow structured storyboards, shot lists and schedules during commercial shoots while still able to capture run-and-gun style events
Working with the Production Coordinator to refine project direction, look, feel and deliverables to ensure the production scope aligns with a client’s vision and budget

Overseeing video post production

Managing all raw video and audio files and archiving
Maintaining all video file and project organization and implements new systems and processes as needed to ensure efficiency of workflow and footage safeguards
Ensuring all media transferred successfully - reviewing files for corruption and checks that all scenes/content are accounted for (i.e. that no cards are missing)
Ensuring all raw footage is backed up on cloud server/second source before submitting cards for formatting
Is responsible for final backups and archiving of completed projects
Reviewing all raw footage for quality and completeness
Working as a Video Editor on necessary projects (description below)

Quality Assurance
Ensuring all final videos meet XSIGHT standards
Understanding the XSIGHT brand and continually works to keep in line with it
Overseeing all video post production Responsible for all final video edits
Has expert level knowledge of video and audio editing techniques and software including file management, how to troubleshoot, specifications for different file formats and different methods of delivery

Creating video edits per project scope
Is familiar with the project deliverables
Ensures all edits meet or exceed the specified project deliverables, within the specified budget and timeframe
Ensures proper editing techniques and best practices are followed for an efficient workflow
Works with the Production Coordinator on tasking assistants with preliminary editing - project organization, clip selections, pre-cutting interviews, etc.
Time tracking of all edits and updates project management tools upon completion and is able to stay within the specified hours allotted for a project

Music selection
Color correction/grading
Audio mixing
Updates Production Coordinator for quality and completeness check
Completing all final backups as tasked by the Project Manager and keeps the video folders on the servers updated and organized
Removing and archiving projects off of servers when project is completed to external drives
Requirements:
Must have expert level knowledge of modern video technology including cameras and video/audio editing software and techniques.
Minimum of three years experience required in the video industry and must have a filming and editing demo to submit upon applying.
Must be local or planning to be local to the Sacramento area and able to work full-time in our creative studio in Downtown Sacramento
Must be comfortable working with a small crew and leading a small video team.
Some weekend and evening work will be required.
