Duties
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and hygiene.
- Monitor and observe patient conditions regularly, including vital signs, mental status, and overall health status.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments, including memory care techniques.
- Assist with mobility and transfers using patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to ensure safety.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks like cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients and their families about care plans while respecting HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, geriatrics, or in assisted living environments is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, catheter care, wound care, and end-of-life support techniques.
- Certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS), including CPR training.
- Familiarity with home health agency operations and home healthcare regulations.
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely and perform physical tasks such as patient transfers or assisting with mobility.
- Experience using EMR/EHR systems for documentation and communication purposes.
- Strong interpersonal skills for client communication and caregiving; compassionate attitude essential.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are often required for home visits.
