The Role:
We are seeking a Payroll and Finance Coordinator who is detail-oriented, analytical, and excited about learning and managing NYC’s financial and contracting systems. You will be responsible for payroll, financial reporting, and navigating the NYC DYCD and Passport systems that connect nonprofits to the Department of Education. This role works closely with onboarding.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage payroll through ADP and ensure timely and accurate payments
Oversee timekeeping, employee records, and compliance with NYC, state, and federal payroll requirements
Work in NYC Passport and DYCD financial portal to track, recoup, and reconcile funds
Handle 6000 series background clearance paperwork and compliance submissions
Maintain accurate entries in QuickBooks for payroll, invoices, and financial reporting
Prepare payroll and reimbursement reports for internal use and audits
Support HR with deductions, benefits, and employee inquiries
Troubleshoot issues in payroll and financial systems with a problem-solving mindset
Qualifications:
Experience running payroll with ADP
Strong accounting and math skills, with a genuine interest in working with numbers and financial systems
Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software
Ability to learn and navigate NYC’s Passport and DYCD systems
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Pursuing or holding a degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is a plus
