Full Time Program Director

Salary: $24 per hour

Part time hours - 5 days a week

We are seeking a passionate, creative, dedicated After-School Program Director for our 5X Emmy award winning and 17X Emmy Nominated after-school programs located in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens.

Job Description

Our mission is to expose children and adolescents to the worlds of Science, Technology, Finance, Work Ethic/Employment, Nutrition, Community Service and Stronger Parent/Child Partnerships. We accomplish this with a strong focus on teaching the fundamentals of Financial Literacy: Earning, Saving, Investment & Entrepreneurship and we use creative vehicles: Film-making, Animation, Music Production, 3D Modeling ...etc.

Our approach is unorthodox and our commitment is REAL. We’re looking for more dedicated, perfectionist and change makers PD’s to join our awesome team!

Program Directors oversee day-to-day program operations, supervise line staff, organize special events, and liaise among parents, students and school staff. The Program Director must be patient, compassionate, proactive, organized, creative, resourceful, and a good judge of character. The Program Director must be an educator, a manager, a counselor, a mediator, an administrator, an ambassador, a problem solver, a negotiator, a coach, and a nurse. He or she MUST have a Do or Die mentality. He or she must be a credible authority at the program, skillfully managing relationships with program staff, students, parents, custodians and school administration, as well as representatives of DYCD, DOH and OCFS. He or she must be one of those special people who finds joy helping middle school students through the maelstrom of early adolescence. He or she must be able to earn their trust and gain their respect. The Program Director must have the ability to hire staff who relate well to their students. The Program Director must be able to design activities that are developmentally appropriate for middle-school students of all levels. Recruitment and retention of students is essential to be a successful Program Director.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree with transcripts specifying 18 credits of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field.
• OR SACC Credential or other Office recognized credential specific to school-age development period
• OR NYS Children's Program Administrator credential,
• OR Associates degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field

AND either of the above coupled with Two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13 years, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program related field of work reflected on resume.

• Former Program Director that has operated and obtained a New York State Office of Children and Family Services School-Age Child Care Registration (Verification Required)
• OCFS approved certification in CPR & First Aid Requirement (Verification Required)
• Individuals with excellent execution skills, follow up and follow through.
• Capable of leading young people and managing a team of creatives.
• Passionate, resilient, optimistic individuals that want to change the world and impart their experience and guidance onto the lives of our children's futures.
• 1-2 years experience working with special needs population preferred

Experience:

• Supervising Experience: 2-3 years (Preferred)
• Childcare: 2 years (Preferred)
