Freight Handler

Shift: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Summary

Our Team Members operate powered industrial equipment such as stand-up forklifts with fork or clamp attachments. Tasks loading/unloading pallets and tires, picking/staging orders, putting away pallets, and other general work. This Freight Handler will be working in the inventory department and will need to be computer savvy to be successful.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Manually consolidate tire inventory daily through repetitive lifting of 30-45 lbs
• Will need to perform inventory duties (cycle counting, order verifications, discrepancy investigations)
• WMS Experience- SAP Preferably
• High attention to detail.
• Conduct operations in a manner promoting safety
• Help truck driver unload the shipment using the appropriate pallet jack
• Process tire shipments and verify count matches Packing List, Shipping Manifest or BOL.
• Sort and tires according to procedure for each type of tire, wheel or equipment.
• Must be super-efficient in all tasks required
• Put away inbound shipments/move product to storage locations using a forklift
• Picking tires by the each onto pallets using the powered equipment
• Prepare product for shipment ensuring the exact number and correct item is staged for loading
• Keep appropriate records and reports for inventory accuracy
• Report quality variances
• Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion
• Assist in any required physical inventories
• Complete daily inspection of equipment
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management
• Ensure proper stock rotation
• Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
• Comply with all OSHA and MSDS standards
• Ability to read, understand and follow instructions, and to code applicable documents

Qualifications

• This position requires lifting cases weighing from 30 - 60 pounds repeatedly throughout a long work period
• Stand-up forklift, Cherry Picker or Wave experience preferred
• Must be able to pass Forklift Driving Skills test
• Minimum of 6 months of forklift and warehouse experience
• 18 years or older
• Working in a high-speed manufacturing environment (e.g., team-oriented, deadline driven, high performance demands, fast-paced, etc.)
• Driving a forklift (e.g., performing basic operations such as driving forwards, driving backwards, lifting and lowering boom, maneuvering in tight areas without damaging product, etc.)
• Working with racking systems and loading/unloading pallets (e.g., pulling and placing pallets on/off vertical product racking systems and trucks, maximizing storage by stacking products vertically, etc.)
• Working with standards of operation (e.g., OSHA requirements on minimum/maximum speeds, signaling, putting products in appropriate areas, etc.)

Safety:

• Observe and follow health and safety regulations
• Enforces operating instructions and safety policies.
• Assist management in establishing warehouse standards and procedures
• Maintain detailed records of safety incidents
• Assign designated safety personnel
• Maintain warehouse in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
