Job Description
- The Test Engineer will work directly with other Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineers to facilitate various activities to implement automated data acquisition, find defects earlier in the process, improve repeatability, and become the subject matter expert on all test requirements related to XP Power’s HVHP products. The core responsibility of the Test Engineer is to own the implementation, coordination, and documentation of test fixtures, processes, and requirements in partnership with the HVHP design team to support expanding our production capacity and capabilities to meet the needs of our customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to design, commission, and continuously improve electro-mechanical assemblies, fixtures, processes, and procedures to efficiently and repeatably produce high quality HVHP products.
- Design automated tests and interfaces to current and future equipment to develop repeatable and reliable test processes for the verification of our HVHP products and assemblies.
- Fabricate and/or modify existing prototype components and fixtures for production and NPI
- Partner with the quality team to better utilize and enhance data systems to monitor and improve first pass yield using structured problem solving to identify the root cause of failures and consistent process complications
- Implement product and process engineering changes as required through the ECO/ECR process and maintain documentation (test/assembly procedures, training and operation manuals, equipment/tool calibration, etc.)
- Carry out manufacturability (DFM/DFT) review on all new products in a timely manner
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with High Voltage High Power is a preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Preferably related to power electronics or other complex electromechanical systems
- Deep understanding of analog circuit theory, power conversion topologies, and component level testing
- Proficient with various CAD and test software packages (Altium, LabView, SOLIDWORKS, etc.)
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to meet strict customer-based deadlines
- Proficient in using common desktop applications such as Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute requirements delivered in various formats
