We're hiring Dessert Dealers!
Yes, it's a real job. Yes, you'll be surrounded by cheesecake, homemade ice cream, and cannoli. And yes, we actually expect you to work. :-)
At XO desserts, our front-of-house crew is called the Sweet Squad, and we're looking for a few more people to join us.
We're not looking for someone to just stand behind a counter and ring people up. We want people with personality. People who can make customers smile, strike up a conversation, and help someone discover their new favorite dessert.
What you'll be doing:
- Greeting customers and making them feel welcome.
- Offering samples and helping people navigate our ridiculous number of dessert choices.
- Scooping homemade ice cream and making shakes and floats.
- Boxing cheesecakes and filling cannoli fresh to order.
- Running the register and handling payments.
- Restocking, cleaning, and helping open or close the shop.
- Finding something productive to do when we're not busy. Trust us, there's always something.
What we're looking for:
First, you've got to like people. Seriously. If talking to strangers sounds miserable, this probably isn't your job.
We also need people who:
- Show up on time and are dependable.
- Can stay friendly and organized when there's a line out the door.
- Take initiative without having to be told what to do every five minutes.
- Work well with a small team.
- Take pride in serving something that looks as good as it tastes.
- Understand that cleaning and restocking are part of the job, too.
Availability is important!
We're specifically looking for people who can work between 10 AM and 5 PM, with some evening and weekend availability as well.
You'll need jeans, closed-toe shoes, clean hands, and a good attitude.
What you get:
- $10/hour plus tips, which typically add another $5–$10/hour.
- Five days of hands-on training with an experienced team member.
- Tip eligibility once training is complete.
- An XO shirt and an XO hat or visor.
- A workplace where we take our desserts seriously, but don't take ourselves too seriously.
A little about us:
XO desserts is a family-owned Wichita dessert shop. We make our cheesecakes, ice cream, cannoli fillings, and plenty of other sweet stuff right here.
It all started in my kitchen in 2020 when my daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease. I wanted to make her a New York-style cheesecake she could actually enjoy.
What started as one cheesecake has turned into a pretty busy little dessert shop, and we're still growing.
We're proud of what we make, we're grateful for the customers who support us, and we want people on our team who feel the same way.
