About xMEMS Labs
Founded in 2018, xMEMS Labs is pioneering a new era in MEMS technology. Our solid-state Sycamore MEMS loudspeakers and µCooling “fan-on-a-chip” devices are redefining what’s possible in audio and thermal management for AI glasses, wearables, smartphones, SSDs, and beyond.
We’re growing our µCooling team and looking for a Thermal Engineer passionate about pushing the boundaries of thermal design in compact, high-performance consumer electronics.
What You’ll Do
- Support for characterization and validation of simulation and model data for the µCooling air pump-on-a-chip across multiple product categories (AI glasses, smartphones, SSDs, XR, wearables, datacenter).
- Characterize airflow, back pressure, and thermal resistance performance in system-level use cases.
- Collaborate with system architects, electrical engineers, and packaging engineers to integrate µCooling into tight form factors.
- Develop and execute thermal test protocols (steady-state, transient, and stress conditions) and analyze results to guide design improvements.
- Work with customers to ensure µCooling devices meet system thermal requirements. Debug system integrations to ensure best performance.
- Partner with product management and marketing to translate thermal performance into end-user value stories.
What We’re Looking For
- B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field.
- 3–7 years’ experience in thermal design and analysis for consumer electronics, semiconductors, or datacenter systems.
- Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
- Hands-on experience with thermal characterization and fixture building using 3D printing and machining.
- Familiarity with CFD modeling, airflow characterization, and thermal measurement techniques using instruments and measurement tools.
- Use of thermocouples, thermistors, heaters, and other fixtures to mockup in-house and customer designs.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and work cross-functionally.
- Bonus: Experience with cooling of AI/Edge devices, compact fans, vapor chambers, or MEMS-based cooling.
