Position Summary
The People Operations Generalist serves as a front-line ambassador for XL Construction’s People Operations function, delivering a high-touch, service-oriented experience to employees and leaders across the organization. This role blends HR operations, employee relations, compliance, onboarding, reporting, and recruiting support into a single integrated function designed to protect the employee experience and uphold our culture.

Key Responsibilities
Employee Experience & HR Operations
Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to policies, benefits, onboarding, HR systems, and workplace support.
Administer end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional first-day experiences.
Maintain employee records with a high level of data integrity and confidentiality.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Partner with People Operations leadership to support employee relations matters including intake documentation, issue tracking, and resolution coordination.
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment regulations with emphasis on California labor compliance.
Support performance management cycles, engagement programs, and corrective action documentation.
Systems, Reporting & Process Improvement
Generate and analyze HR and Talent Acquisition reports to inform workforce decisions and leadership discussions.
Maintain HRIS data accuracy and participate in system audits, data clean-up efforts, and workflow enhancements.
Contribute to People Operations projects that improve employee experience, efficiency, and compliance posture.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
6–10 years of progressive HR generalist experience, ideally within construction, manufacturing, or high-growth environments.
Strong working knowledge of California labor laws and HR best practices.
Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Advanced proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
Experience supporting multi-location or field-based workforces.
Background in both HR operations and recruiting coordination.

In accordance with California law, the base salary range for this position is $122,960 – $138,000 annually, with eligibility for discretionary bonus programs and a comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
