Shipping Coordinator Inventory Assistant
The Shipping Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient shipment of finished goods and materials from the manufacturing facility. This role coordinates closely with Production, Materials, Customer Service, and Carriers to prepare shipments, maintain shipping documentation, and ensure orders are delivered according to schedule and customer requirements.
The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities while maintaining accurate records and compliance with company and carrier requirements.
Job Duties:
- Coordinate daily shipping activities to ensure orders are processed, packaged, and shipped on schedule.
- Prepare shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, shipping labels, and freight paperwork.
- Verify order accuracy by confirming quantities, part numbers, and packaging requirements prior to shipment.
- Schedule freight pickups and coordinate with carriers, freight brokers, and logistics providers.
- Communicate with Production and Materials teams to ensure orders are ready for shipment according to schedule.
- Maintain shipping records and update ERP or shipping systems with accurate shipment information.
- Track outgoing shipments and provide updates on delivery status when necessary.
- Coordinate all shipments including ground, LTL, and direct shipments.
- Perform routine dock duties such as loading and unloading trucks, uncrating items, locating items within the warehouse, and delivering items to production teams.
- Deliver and retrieve shipments using company shop truck (CDL not required). Willingness to undergo physical and drive’s background check.
- Ensure proper packaging methods are used to protect products during transport.
- Perform cycle counts and year end physical inventory review.
- Assist in loading and staging shipments to ensure efficient dock operations.
- Resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, or carrier issues as they arise.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of shipping areas and staging locations.
- Support inventory and materials teams as needed to ensure efficient material flow.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies while performing shipping and warehouse functions.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to shipping efficiency and logistics processes.
- Safely operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes as needed.
- All other duties assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in inventory control, materials coordination, or manufacturing operations preferred.
- Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate system transactions.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and determine root causes.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple departments.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Ability to lift and move materials as required in a manufacturing environment.
