Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior UI/UX Developer / Architect with strong expertise in enterprise design systems, accessibility, Angular, and reusable component development.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building and implementing design systems from scratch, creating scalable component libraries, and integrating enterprise-level design systems across multiple applications.

This role will focus heavily on WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance, including AAA requirements where applicable, as well as the development, documentation, testing, and adoption of accessible UI components using Angular, HTML, SASS, Storybook, ARIA, and USWDS or similar enterprise design systems.

The candidate will work closely with developers, UX teams, architects, and other stakeholders to establish accessibility standards and promote consistent UI/UX practices across enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design, build, document, and maintain a scalable enterprise design system and reusable component library using USWDS or similar enterprise design systems.

  2. Develop reusable and scalable Angular wrapper components using HTML and SASS to ensure consistency across enterprise applications.

  3. Build highly accessible UI components that comply with WCAG 2.1 standards, including AAA requirements where applicable.

  4. Implement semantic HTML, ARIA roles, keyboard navigation, focus management, screen-reader compatibility, and accessible UI patterns.

  5. Use Storybook for component development, documentation, testing, demonstrations, and collaboration across development teams.

  6. Establish reusable UI patterns, standards, design tokens, component APIs, and development guidelines for enterprise applications.

  7. Ensure front-end components meet standards for accessibility, usability, scalability, consistency, and maintainability.

  8. Perform and support accessibility audits, identify compliance gaps, and provide recommendations for remediation.

  9. Utilize accessibility testing tools and workflows to validate WCAG compliance throughout the development lifecycle.

  10. Collaborate with UX designers, front-end developers, architects, and product teams to ensure adherence to accessibility and UX best practices.

  11. Participate in code reviews, UX reviews, architecture discussions, and accessibility assessments.

  12. Partner with development teams across multiple applications to drive adoption of reusable design-system components.

  13. Mentor and support developers who are new to accessibility standards and enterprise design-system development.

  14. Develop high-level wrapper components that simplify accessibility implementation for downstream development teams.

  15. Support enterprise applications that must comply with mandated federal accessibility standards and deadlines.

  16. Define and promote best practices for accessible UI development across multiple teams and applications.

  17. Collaborate with backend development teams to ensure seamless integration between Angular front-end applications and backend services.

  18. Contribute to the long-term governance, sustainability, adoption, and evolution of the enterprise design system.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 5 years of professional front-end development experience.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Angular, HTML, and SASS.

  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise design systems from scratch.

  • Experience building reusable, scalable, and accessible component libraries.

  • Strong experience developing high-level wrapper components for enterprise applications.

  • Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards, including AAA requirements where applicable.

  • Strong knowledge of ARIA roles, semantic HTML, keyboard accessibility, screen-reader compatibility, and accessible UI design.

  • Experience with accessibility testing tools and accessibility validation workflows.

  • Strong hands-on experience using Storybook for component development, testing, documentation, and collaboration.

  • Experience with USWDS (U.S. Web Design System) or similar enterprise-level design systems.

  • Strong understanding of UX best practices and accessible user-interface design.

  • Experience participating in code reviews, accessibility audits, and UX discussions.

  • Demonstrated ability to promote design-system and accessibility standards across multiple development teams.

  • Strong communication, mentoring, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to work across multiple enterprise systems and support organization-wide accessibility initiatives.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with .NET applications.

  • Knowledge of MVC architecture.

  • Experience with SQL.

  • Understanding of backend architecture and integration considerations within a .NET environment.

  • Experience supporting front-end integration with enterprise APIs and backend services.
