Job Summary
This full-time, contract-to-hire position sits at the intersection of financial governance and IT project coordination, playing a critical role in evaluating software-related capital projects from intake through classification. The primary focus is ensuring compliance with internal capitalization policies while supporting accurate financial classification of project activities across a collaborative, cross-functional environment. Operating within a supportive, team-oriented culture that values knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, this individual will serve as a key contributor to the Project Intake team — reviewing, validating, and routing project requests through established governance workflows while partnering closely with IT, Finance, and project management stakeholders. Standard full-time hours apply, with overtime varying based on workload demands.
Responsibilities
Review incoming project requests for alignment with capital policy and strategic objectives
Validate completeness of Statements of Work (SOWs) and all supporting documentation
Analyze project deliverables and associated costs to determine proper CapEx vs. OpEx classification
Provide clear documentation and well-supported recommendations for financial coding
Partner with IT teams, Finance, and project managers to ensure accurate intake and classification
Communicate findings and recommendations in clear, concise language for both technical and non-technical audiences
Ensure adherence to internal capital software policy and applicable regulatory requirements
Maintain accurate records to support audit readiness and reporting obligations
Coordinate timely routing of intake requests through PIT, CAA, and supporting teams
Identify opportunities to streamline intake and classification workflows
Leverage automation and AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Skills
Project intake coordination experience with software and hardware IT projects
Strong financial and compliance awareness, particularly Capital vs. O&M classification principles
Proficiency with JIRA and SharePoint for project tracking and documentation management
Solid understanding of CapEx vs. OpEx principles and financial governance frameworks
Knowledge of IT project lifecycle and software implementation practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in complex or ambiguous scenarios
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across cross-functional teams
Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with AI and automation tools for process optimization
Experience
3–5+ years of relevant experience in project support, intake coordination, operations, or similar roles
Background in project coordination, PMO support, IT governance, finance operations, or business analysis highly preferred
Experience in environments requiring process adherence, data accuracy, and cross-functional coordination
Exposure to IT projects, financial tracking (Capital vs. O&M), or intake and governance functions strongly preferred
Experience with fixed assets, capital project management, or capital project budgeting preferred
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
