Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented engineer to support capital projects within our growing renewable energy portfolio, focusing on wind and solar installations across the upper Midwest region. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the clean energy transition by applying engineering expertise to the design, development, and optimization of renewable energy systems. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure project success from concept through commissioning, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. This hybrid role provides a balance of office-based collaboration and occasional field visits to project sites, allowing for hands-on involvement in meaningful infrastructure that powers communities sustainably.
Responsibilities:
• Design, model, develop, and test machines, structures, and systems for renewable energy capital projects
• Develop functional requirements for wind and solar project components and systems
• Create simulations and prototypes to evaluate preliminary designs and assess system performance
• Design and test individual components, then integrate them to produce final renewable energy solutions
• Monitor product quality and control process efficiency throughout project lifecycles
• Evaluate designs for overall effectiveness, cost optimization, reliability, and safety compliance
• Investigate root causes of equipment or system failures and recommend corrective improvements
• Travel to project sites in Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota as needed to support installation and commissioning activities
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
• Maintain documentation and technical specifications throughout all project phases
Skills:
• Strong understanding and application of standard engineering principles
• Proficiency in engineering design and modeling software
• Analytical and problem-solving capabilities for complex technical challenges
• Knowledge of renewable energy systems, particularly wind and solar technologies
• Ability to conduct simulations and prototype testing
• Quality control and process optimization expertise
• Root cause analysis and failure investigation skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Project coordination and time management skills
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time to regional project sites
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
