XCU is currently seeking a Lube and Preventative Maintenance Mechanic to join our Maintenance team. This role is responsible for performing lube services, filter changes, and routine preventative maintenance on heavy equipment both in the field and in the shop. While not a full-service mechanic role, limited on-the-spot repairs may be necessary to keep equipment moving safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled lube services and preventative maintenance on heavy construction equipment including excavators, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, and haul trucks.
- Change oil, filters, fluids, and complete inspections per maintenance schedules.
- Maintain accurate service records and logs for each piece of equipment serviced.
- Identify and report potential mechanical issues for escalation to the repair team.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of lube truck and work area.
- Conduct minor field repairs when needed (e.g., hose swaps, belts, minor electrical).
- Follow proper safety protocols while working around active job sites and heavy machinery.
- Communicate with the shop foreman and operators to coordinate maintenance schedules.
- Operate company lube/service truck in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ensure equipment is returned to service in a timely and safe condition.
- Work independently in the field while remaining connected with the maintenance team.
- Experience: 2 years in equipment maintenance or lube technician role; experience with Caterpillar and other pipeline/construction equipment preferred.
- Skills: Strong understanding of PM schedules and heavy equipment systems (hydraulic, diesel, filtration); basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Tools/Equipment: Familiar with operating service trucks and using hand/power tools safely.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50–80 lbs, work in outdoor environments, and maneuver around large machinery.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Work Ethic: Self-starter with strong attention to detail, positive attitude, and a commitment to teamwork and safety.
