What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior System Engineer position at XCaliber Technologies?
Company Description XCaliber Technologies is building the operating system for defended airspace in an era of autonomous aerial threats. As unmanned systems and coordinated drone swarms reshape both military and civilian environments, the company focuses on delivering defenses that are fast, adaptive, and scalable. Legacy systems built for missiles and crewed aircraft are too costly and rigid to address this new reality. XCaliber was founded to redesign air defense from first principles, creating a fully integrated, autonomous counter-UAS ecosystem. Its unified architecture treats airspace as a managed domain, enabling continuous protection at machine speed and at scale.
Role Description The Senior System Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems that support XCaliber’s autonomous counter-UAS ecosystem. This full-time, on-site role in Los Angeles, CA includes leading systems architecture efforts, integrating hardware and software components, and ensuring system reliability and performance in demanding environments. The role involves hands-on system administration, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting production issues, and developing tools to improve monitoring, observability, and automation. The Senior System Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, translate operational requirements into scalable system designs, and contribute to documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of the platform. This role will also mentor other engineers and help define best practices for systems engineering across the organization.
