Xavier University invites applications for a full-time Teaching Professor in the rapidly growing field of 3D Animation and Immersive Game Design. We are seeking a creative, forward-thinking educator who will play a key role in shaping and expanding a cutting-edge program at the intersection of art, technology, and storytelling.
This position focuses primarily on teaching, curriculum development, program-building, and student recruitment. The position does not have a scholarship component. The successful candidate will be instrumental in growing enrollment, enhancing industry partnerships, and building a program that prepares students for careers in animation, game design, and immersive media.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
○ Develop innovative, project-based curricula integrating art, design, and emerging technologies.
○ Mentor students in professional portfolio development and career preparation.
○ Advise students in registering for classes, career planning, and overall academic progress.
○ Collaborate with faculty and administration to expand the 3D Animation and Immersive Game Design program.
○ Engage in active recruitment efforts to attract talented students locally, nationally, and internationally.
○ Build relationships with industry professionals to provide internships, guest lectures, and career pathways.
○ Seek opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across Xavier University departments, including computer science, film, and digital media.
○ Build a network of industry partners and local, regional, and national game design and animation companies.

Qualifications
Required
- MFA, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree in Animation, Game Design, Digital Media, or a related field by the start date.
- Applicants with a BA or BFA in Game Design or related field plus 5 years or more of experience may also be considered.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity).
- Commitment to inclusive and innovative teaching practices.
- Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level.
- Experience in curriculum development and program growth.
- Ability to teach a range of technical and conceptual courses bridging art, design, and technology.
- Interest in emerging areas such as VR and interactive storytelling.
