We are looking for an experienced, bilingual litigation paralegal with a minimum experience of 1 year. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of a group of talented attorneys in a collaborative firm culture handling criminal and civil matters.
This position involves working as an integral part of the litigation department providing a full range of support including, but not limited to coordinating/monitoring the docket of cases assigned, preparation/revision of correspondence, pleadings, and documents; filing forms/motions with the court; filing and file maintenance; and much more.
Responsibilities
Assist attorneys in the preparation and assembly of a wide range of civil and criminal cases including: DWI, Expungements, Estate, Probate, Misdemeanors and Felonies; at the state and federal level.
Handle communication with clients, witnesses, etc, in Spanish and English
Draft large volumes of legal writings such as but not limited to affidavits, memos, briefs, etc
Locate and develop case relevant information
Organizing and tracking files related to case documents and important transactions
Drafting legal court documents, such as motions, affidavits, and statements
Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars
Generate evidence lists for clients and coordinating the collection of required evidence
Translate documents written in Spanish to English and vice versa
Prepare trial binders for attorneys
Required Skills
Excellent legal writing skills
At least one year (more than two years preferred) of proven working experience as legal assistant or paralegal
Familiarity with law, legal procedures and protocols, and court system (Montgomery/Harris and surrounding counties)
Knowledge of criminal and civil law
Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office
Computer literacy
Writing/speaking proficiency in English and Spanish is nonnegotiable
Working knowledge of case management software
Excellent secretarial and organizational skills
Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure

Pay: $22.00 - $33.00 per hour
