Food Service Staff - All Saints Elementary School

Xavier Catholic Schools is looking for a part-time (under 30 hours) food service staff for All Saints Elementary School!

Position Summary: Food Service Staff ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school cafeteria and are responsible for the production of nutritious, appetizing meals for students and staff, while meeting all government and district regulations. Food Service Staff must also ensure the district is maximizing its resources and minimizing production costs. The following duties are not all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

1. Foster the Christian uniqueness of the learning community
2. Maintain required trainings as required by the State of Iowa, Archdiocese, and local site
3. Assist in the preparation of student and staff lunches
4. Operate computerized point of sales
5. Assist in the cleanup of the kitchen, dishwashing room, and dining room

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

1. High school education or GED required
2. Prior food service or related field experience preferred

Skills and Competencies:

1. Ability to write, read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
2. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
3. Ability to effectively perform essential functions independently with minimal supervision
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters
5. Ability to use good judgment and effective problem-solving skills
6. Demonstrate initiative, ingenuity, flexibility, and desire to expand personal knowledge and skill set
7. Preferably a practicing Catholic who lives the Gospel values
8. Enthusiastic supporter of Catholic faith and schools

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is frequently required to walk and continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and waist while performing the duties of this position. The employee will occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The employee constantly works around others, works with the public, and works inside. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud. The employee has a greater than average risk of getting a minor injury such as a cut or burn while performing the duties of this job. The employee occasionally will be working in temperatures about 100 degrees and will be walking on slippery surfaces.
