Assist guests in a courteous and knowledgeable manner, answering questions regarding the park, prices, and merchandise. Help Retail Manager to oversee training, supervising, and support of Retail department.

Position Type: Full-time, Seasonal
Season Dates: Mid-May until mid-October
Pay: $18.40/hr.
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

- Perform all duties with respect to the Company’s Core Values, Mission Statement, and guest services standards.
- Assist retail manager in day-to-day operations.
- Operate the Trail Ridge Store in the absence of the retail manager.
- Ensure the highest standards of retail service are met for the guests, the company, and the National Park Service.
- Communicate with location management regarding the retail operation, business needs, staffing, and employee issues.
- Coordinate with retail support regarding sales, product needs, merchandising, and training.
- Ensure all cashiers are performing their duties properly; ringing up all sales before taking money, call out amount tendered in “dollars and cents”, place bills on register, and count back change.
- Ensure all employees receive appropriate training for their position and training is documented appropriately.
- Demonstrate and train good sales techniques by performing suggestive selling and add-on sales. Follow up with staff to ensure add-on sales are occurring.
- Ensure the sales floor is kept clean on a daily basis, which includes but is not limited to sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
- Stock merchandise as necessary, making sure all displays are kept stocked, neat and clean within the guidelines of the Retail Visual Merchandise Manual.
- Provide accurate, helpful information to guests.
- Assist with loading and unloading of retail merchandise.
- Work alongside staff, leading by example, delegate tasks while leading with a positive and professional manner. No task is too small.
- Alert the retail manager to shrinkage, guest problems and concerns, as necessary.
- Assist the retail manager to maintain accurate shop records: reports, transfers, and inventory control.
- Assist the retail manager with scheduling, supervising, and developing gift shop personnel. Assist in maintaining proper employee files and evaluations.
- Ensure registers are routinely cleaned. Report all register issues promptly.
- Ensure all employees receive informal feedback from their supervisor on a regular basis and written evaluations, periodically.
- Maintain a safe work area.
- Deal courteously with guests on the phone and in person.
- Handle complaints & compliments with ease.
- Make sure the guests experience is positive.
- Maintain uniform and appearance standards.
- Verification of cash drawers and deposits.
- Responsible for safe and cash banks. Be able to make change for cashiers accurately.
- Assist in making the required safe deposit.
- Communicate with retail manager and leads to guarantee appropriate management coverage for every shift. Cover floor management shifts as needed.
- Open and close the guest service facilities on time every day.
- Able to work with minimum supervision, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform duties outside the job classification assigned by management along with any other responsibilities deemed necessary.
- Knowledge of Mi9/POS system and ability to troubleshoot common problems.
- Able to perform all duties of a sales associate. Be accurate with cash handling, daily reporting procedures and inventory control.
- Visual merchandising experience helpful.
- Able to coach employees to maintain high and consistent standards in the gift shop.
- Understanding of a retail operation in a high traffic seasonal environment.
- Must be able to foster cooperation among a diverse workforce. Work well with all staff members.
- Should have a basic knowledge and understanding of souvenirs, gifts, jewelry, and other products sold within the assigned location.
- Able to work with minimal supervision. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrate excellent sales approach and skills.
- Demonstrate awareness of general gift shop security and theft prevention.
- Must be able to remain calm in a high stress environment.
- Must possess a non-CDL, valid driver’s license, and a clean record.
- Candidate must be able to work at an altitude of 12,000 feet.
- Able to stand/walk for a minimum eight to ten hour shift.
- Frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to walk up and down stairs several times a day.
- Carry boxes/product up and down stairs several times a day.
- Must be able to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift.
- May need to climb ladders as requested.
