About The Role
We are looking for a Principal Engineer to lead the architecture of key components within Tapestry’s core platform. You will help shape the technical roadmap for our grid intelligence layer, ensuring our AI-driven simulations and data systems can scale to manage the world's most complex power grids.
How You’ll Make 10x Impact
- Architect Core Systems: Lead the technical design of Tapestry’s intelligence platform by connecting high-fidelity power system modeling with large-scale AI infrastructure.
- Build Scalable Infrastructure: Design distributed systems that process massive, high-velocity geospatial and electrical data with high reliability and performance.
- Drive Technical Milestones: Partner with AI Researchers, Power Systems Engineers, and Product Leads to translate moonshot goals into executable technical plans.
- Foster Engineering Excellence: Promote a product-driven culture where architectural decisions deliver direct value to grid operators and utilities.
- Improve Technical Standards: Refine processes for code quality, system design, and testing across the engineering organization.
- Strategy and Scalability: Identify technical gaps and navigate trade-offs between speed-to-market and long-term system growth.
- Mentor and Multiply: Act as a technical leader by mentoring senior engineers and collaborating with other Tech Leads to foster high-velocity execution.
- Have 15 years of experience in software engineering, with a significant track record of leading large-scale, complex technical projects from conception to launch.
- Think from first principles to solve high-stakes problems where there is no existing playbook, particularly at the intersection of software and physical systems.
- Hold an exceptionally high bar for craftsmanship, taking pride in building robust, elegant, and maintainable systems.
- Navigate technical ambiguity with calm, structured reasoning and a passion for radical simplification of complex problems.
- Communicate with clarity and purpose, effectively translating deep technical trade-offs for both executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Enjoy collaborating with a diverse group of experts (from ML researchers to power grid veterans) to achieve a massive shared mission.
- Feel motivated by real-world impact and the opportunity to build the foundational technology for a carbon-free energy future.
- Experience working at the intersection of software and physical systems (e.g., energy, robotics, or hardware integration).
- Experience with large-scale AI infrastructure or geospatial data processing.
- Track record of delivering scalable solutions in startup or high-growth environments.
- Ability to navigate technical ambiguity with structured reasoning and radical simplification
