Wytheville Community College is seeking a part-time adjunct dental hygiene instructor and will report to the Dental Hygiene/Dental Assisting Program Head. Adjunct Faculty are employed on a term-by-term basis and may be assigned teaching duties during the day, evening, and/or using distance learning formats. The adjunct will be assigned to instruct dental assisting students in laboratory instruction and evaluation. The Adjunct will work to support ancillary program policies and procedures and assist the other faculty within the Dental Programs. Participation in team instructor calibration meetings are required.

Minimum Qualifications

Dental hygienist with dental assisting experience or a dental assistant with X-ray Certification.

Must possess a current CPR certification for Healthcare Professionals.

Must be proficient in digital radiography and dental patient software.

Demonstrated student centeredness.

Ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a professional manner. Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.

Possess an understanding of the range of needs community college students represent.

Possess a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.

Willingness to improve instruction through professional development including pedagogy and technology

Additional Considerations

Preference given to those with previous community college experience and demonstrated record of teaching excellence.

It is desired that applicants have the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time clinical practice experience within the past five (5) years.

Preferred credentials include: RDH, CDA, or RDA.
