- Is at least 21 years of age and meets the requirements of good

- Possesses a high school diploma.
- Possesses a valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License (Class B at

- Possesses prior successful experience as an automobile and/or truck
as an official inspection mechanic by the VirginiaDepartment of
State Police.
- Possesses the ability to stand for extended periods of time, push or pull

conditions, hazards, atmospheric conditions, noise, chemicals, infrequently,
oils, and fumes.
REPORTS TO:CHIEF MECHANICAND SUPERVISOR OF TRANSPORTATION
Performance Responsibilities
- Examines, vehicles and discusses findings with head mechanic.
- Plans work procedures, using technical manuals, computer diagnostic
- Raises vehicles using hydraulic jacks or hoist to gain access to mechanical
- Removes units, such as engine, transmission, or differential, using wrenches,
- Disassemble units and inspect parts of wear, using micrometers, calipers,
- Overhauls or replaces carburetors, fuel injectors, turbos, blowers,
- Repair or replace engine parts, such as,pistons,rods, gears, valves
- Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels.
- Recline and adjust brakes, alignfront ends, repair or replace shock
- Mend damaged bodies and fenders by hammering out or filling in
- Replace and adjustheadlights, and installs and repairs accessories,
- Makes minor repairs to vehicles along highways, such as replacing
- Assist head mechanic in maintaininga clean and safe workshop.
- On call 24 hour each day; serve as an emergencybus driver and/or
- Assist with inclement weatherroad condition checks and other weather-related
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
