Duties
- Lead energetic walks for dogs of various temperaments and sizes, ensuring safety and enjoyment throughout each outing
- Assess dog behavior and apply proper handling techniques to maintain control and comfort during walks
- Administer basic dog training commands to reinforce good behavior and socialization skills
- Monitor pet health and behavior during walks, reporting any concerns or unusual signs to pet owners or veterinary staff as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and walking areas, ensuring a hygienic environment for all pets
- Provide pet sitting services when required, including feeding, administering medication, and light grooming
- Assist with animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during handling or veterinary visits when necessary
Skills
- Strong animal handling skills with experience in dog training and pet care
- Knowledge of veterinary procedures, veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when transporting supplies or assisting with larger dogs
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members
- Familiarity with animal restraint techniques and pet grooming practices
- Experience in kennel management or animal care environments such as shelters or veterinary clinics is advantageous
- Compassionate attitude combined with energetic motivation to keep pets engaged and happy during walks
