Hourly Rate: $25-$28 per hour, depending on experience
Position Type: Remote, Hourly Part-Time, up to 15 hours/week

Founded in 1999, the Wyoming Women’s Business Center (WWBC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit headquartered in Laramie, WY. Our mission is to empower Wyoming entrepreneurs, especially women, through counseling, training, and microfinance programs that help them start, expand, and sustain small businesses.

Position Summary
The Post-Loan Business Counselor plays a key role in supporting WWBC microloan clients after their loans are disbursed. This position is ideal for a dynamic, self-motivated professional who enjoys connecting with entrepreneurs and helping them succeed.

The counselor maintains proactive relationships with clients, checking in regularly, reviewing their progress, and providing hands-on guidance in areas such as financial management, marketing, and business growth. This person brings curiosity, initiative, and creativity to every interaction, helping clients overcome challenges and seize opportunities that strengthen their businesses and Wyoming’s economy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively reach out to existing microloan clients to check in on progress, offer strategic guidance, and provide counseling that supports long-term growth and stability.
  • Conduct in-person or virtual site visits to deepen relationships and tailor support to each client’s unique needs.
  • Review financial statements and other key business documents, helping clients interpret results and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Research market and industry trends to inform client counseling and anticipate future needs.
  • Represent WWBC at partner and community events to build awareness and strengthen program relationships.
  • Ensure all counseling activities reflect WWBC’s mission and values, fostering empowerment and economic vitality across Wyoming.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in business counseling, small business management, and financial management
  • Highly self-directed and motivated, able to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication, coaching, relationship-building skills, and public speaking
  • Analytical thinker and creative problem solver with a practical approach to supporting entrepreneurs
  • Adaptable, organized, and confident working in a dynamic, mission-driven environment
  • Willingness to travel within Wyoming as needed
  • Must reside in Wyoming

Bonus Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economic development, or a related field
  • Experience as a small business owner or entrepreneur
  • Experience delivering workshops, coaching sessions, or technical assistance
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills (a plus, but not required)

This is a grant-funded position, subject to the availability of funding.
Employment at WWBC is at-will and non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
