Summary:
Our Estimators are responsible for turning opportunities into profitable work. You will analyze drawings, specs, and customer requirements to produce precise, competitive proposals across structural steel, architectural metals, tanks, frames, skids, field work, and other metal fabricated applications.
This role requires strong judgment, speed, and accuracy. You will work closely with the business development team, project managers, production leadership, and vendors to ensure what we sell can be executed efficiently and profitably. The best estimators in this role think ahead, identify risks before they happen, and consistently put the company in a position to win.
We have pre-employment and random monthly drug tests.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of estimates from initial review to final submission
- Work as a member of a team to achieve The Goal
- Conduct yourself in accordance with the MISSION, VISION, and VALUES
- Review and interpret shop prints, engineering drawings, and specifications with speed and precision
- Build detailed, accurate cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and other variables
- Aggressively source and negotiate vendor pricing to maximize competitiveness and margin
- Identify risks, gaps, and inefficiencies before they impact profitability
- Collaborate with project managers and shop leadership to ensure estimates align with real-world production
- Develop clear, professional proposals that win work
- Track bid outcomes and continuously refine estimating accuracy and strategy
- Assist in purchasing, shipping/receiving logistics, and inventory management duties
- Assist in tracking and compiling production data and TPTs to promote production efficiency opportunities
- Maintain highly organized records—no lost data, no guesswork
- Communicate proactively with internal teams and customers
- Continuously improve, learn, and raise your standard of performance
- Maintain a professional, focused, and accountable work environment
- Work 40 hours per week, or more if needed
Qualifications
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- Familiarity with fabrication drawings and models
- Experience using SolidWorks, Microsoft Office, ERP, and CRM systems
- 1 - 3 years of fabrication, engineering, or construction experience preferred
