What are the responsibilities and job description for the Venture Development Manager position at Wyoming Business Council?
The Venture Development Manager develops, evaluates, and manages WBC’s equity investment programs designed to support Wyoming’s high-growth entrepreneurs and strengthen the state’s economic future. Oversees investments using federal SSBCI (WYVC) funds, conducts rigorous due diligence, and provides strategic post-investment support to help portfolio companies reach critical growth milestones. Serves as a board observer for selected investments, participates in policy development to expand equity opportunities in Wyoming, and engages with constitutional and regulatory considerations impacting WBC’s investment strategies. Builds trusted relationships with founders, funders, WBC board members, and policymakers while representing Wyoming’s venture ecosystem at conferences and events. Maintains program integrity through disciplined investment processes, data-driven portfolio management, and an unwavering commitment to balancing venture-level returns with broad economic impact.

The Investment Team understands the financial landscape of economic development necessary to help Wyoming businesses and communities secure the right financing for sustainable projects that contribute to Wyoming’s lasting growth. This team develops and administers programs providing financial support to local governments and assists Wyoming businesses in reaching their financial goal through partnerships, relationships, due diligence, application review, company and plan analysis, contracting, grant reporting, and feedback.

This position has the flexibility to be located anywhere in the state of Wyoming. While WBC does have office space in some locations around the state, it may not be an option where you are located. Applicants are advised to be prepared to work from home and travel on occasion.
