The Plant Engineer develops and improves manufacturing systems by studying product and manufacturing methods, identifying areas/processes for improvement, conducting feasibility studies, proposing equipment/system improvements, developing system design and specifications, and execution of capital projects.
Specific responsibilities may include:
- Design and measure methods/metrics to further ensure quality of product and process efficiencies.
- Assist in development of efficient and effective ways to use people, machines, materials and new technologies.
- Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
- Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization's competitive edge.
- Propose and document production systems to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability while adhering to industry standards.
- Work with equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, and managers to develop cost-effective and working production systems to improve production output.
- Design layout of equipment and workspaces in collaboration with engineers and teams.
- Provide engineering support to production and maintenance.
- Manage execution of capital projects.
- Support and participate in the organization's Continual Improvement Program and Quality Management System.

Requirements:
Education and training:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, industrial, or manufacturing) required.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing and packaging environment preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, AutoCAD, Rockwell, etc.).
- Experience in CAD (2D and 3D modeling)
- Experience with electrical systems, controls systems, and mechanical layout of equipment.
- Demonstrates clear, concise and relevant communication (verbal and written) within and across departments.
- Ability to share information, transfer knowledge and seek input.
- Problem solving skills; ability to identify source of problem; execute solution and document the issue; escalate to management.
- Approach all interactions and work situations in a positive and respectful manner.
- Ability to prepare and present clear and accurate reports.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as required, including weekends.
