Wymar FCU is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Loan Officer to join our team. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional member service while upholding sound lending practices and compliance standards. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator with solid credit analysis skills and a strong understanding of consumer lending.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts in-depth loan interviews to assess member needs and recommend suitable loan and deposit products.
- Offers credit counseling and guidance to help members improve their credit profiles.
- Processes complete loan applications, prepares files for approval and funding, and ensures accuracy and compliance throughout the process.
- Actively cross-sells additional credit union services that benefit the member.
- Maintains expert-level knowledge of Wymar FCU’s full range of financial products, including current promotions and convenience services.
- Evaluates credit applications by verifying employment, income, and creditworthiness. Calculates debt-to-income ratios and assesses collateral values.
- Approves or denies loan applications within authorized limits; refers higher-limit or complex loans for review.
- Establishes credit limits based on established lending criteria, including repayment capacity and borrower character.
- Ensures full compliance with all regulatory, legal, and internal policy standards related to lending.
- Responds to member inquiries regarding loan terms, balances, payoffs, and general account servicing.
- Maintains strong communication with team members and management; provides updates and attends required meetings.
- Assists with related clerical tasks, and supports overall branch operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in consumer lending, loan processing, or a financial institution.
- Working knowledge of credit reports, debt ratios, and standard lending practices.
- Proficiency with loan origination systems and core banking software.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting team goals.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in finance or business is a plus.
Preferred Candidates Will Have:
- Experience with both secured and unsecured loan types.
- Familiarity with NCUA regulations and fair lending practices.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding service in a credit union environment.
