Job Summary: The Construction Services Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the construction-phase execution of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering projects. This position is responsible for managing technical reviews, coordinating field activities, and ensuring that construction aligns with contract documents, engineering design intent, and quality standards.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, construction documentation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, contractors, and clients throughout the construction lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Construction Phase:
- Assist with responses to contractor RFI's when requested.
- Prepare Submittal Reviews for review by the Project Manager, noting discrepancies with Contract Documents.
- Visit job sites, observe MEP installations, and note discrepancies with Contract Documents.
- Prepare Field Reports for review by the Project Manager.
- Attend construction phase project meetings when required.
- Do not direct contractors or suppliers to do anything regarding the construction (ie, remove materials, stop work, change something, etc.).
- Do not operate any equipment, valves, dampers, electrical devices, etc. or open any equipment without hand latches.
- Review contractors pay requests when required.
- Review contractors change cost proposals when required
- Expedite conflict resolution.
- Witness MEP system testing when required.
- Visit the job site to be familiar with the Project and inform the Project Manager of the extent of construction.
Administrative & Process Support
- Expedite conflict resolutions.
- Contribute to realization of the company mission, goals, values, and ethics.
- Contribute to company organizational/structural development.
- Be knowledgeable of all local code requirements.
- Be knowledgeable of all company design standards.
- Counsel and advise others upon request.
- Assist with the education of other personnel.
- Communicate construction phase problems and their solutions with the Design Group and Company Standards.
- Further one's own education and development.
- Maintain construction phase Drawing Stick files.
- Maintain construction phase Specification files.
- Maintain construction phase Change documentation (Addenda, RFI's, etc.) files.
- Communicate one's activities to one's supervisor.
Education/Experience:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in construction administration, MEP engineering support, or construction project coordination.
- Familiarity with BIM/Revit coordination workflows.
- Strong understanding of construction documents and MEP systems.
- Experience tracking RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project management platforms
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
