What are the responsibilities and job description for the Juvenile Probation Officer position at Wyandotte Nation?
The Wyandotte Nation Government is seeking a dedicated Juvenile Probation Officer to supervise juveniles placed on probation and support their rehabilitation and positive development. This position involves close collaboration with youth, families, victims, court and law enforcement personnel, schools, attorneys, community agencies, and mental health professionals. The officer will review and process law enforcement referrals, conduct assessments and intake interviews, prepare reports and recommendations for the court, and develop individualized treatment and counseling plans. Duties include case management, home and school visits, court appearances, crisis intervention, coordination of services, and accurate recordkeeping.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass a criminal background checks. A high school diploma or GED is required; two years of experience in casework, counseling, or community service involving juveniles is preferred. CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, professionalism, sound judgment, and the belief that positive change is possible for all youth. Flexible hours and on-call duties may be required.
