What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified ASL Interpreter ESC_Wyandot Run Elementary School position at WYANDOT RUN ELEMENTARY?
Olentangy Schools is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time Certified ASL Interpreter position(s) available at Wyandot Run Elementary School for the 2026-27 school year. The ASL Interpreter provides interpretive services to facilitate communication between students with hearing and/or communication disabilities and other individuals through oral and signed language. Strives to support a productive learning environment. Qualified candidates will be employed through the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio (ESCCO) and must hold or be eligible for valid and appropriate licensure for each position with the Ohio State Department of Education and Workforce.
Employment status: 185-day employment contract
Qualifications for the position include:
- Valid Ohio interpreter for the hearing-impaired license.
- Meets all mandated health requirements.
- Documentation of a clear criminal record.
- Comply with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in spoken English.
- Proficient in communication skills including but not limited to: American Sign Language (ASL), Pidgin Signed English (PSE), and/or Signed Exact English (SEE).
- Strong voicing skills that accurately reflect expression.
- Skilled in the use of alternative forms of communication (e.g., gestures, mime, etc.).
- Open to use of a total communication approach.
- Self-directed, congenial disposition, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Alternative to the above qualifications as Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
