WXT General Construction Technician

JOB SUMMARY 

As a General Construction Technician, you will be expected to follow instructions, prioritize safety, and perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to drywall installation, demolition work, and framing, all within a manufacturing environment. This role requires a dependable team player who is consistently punctual and open to cross-training across multiple areas of construction.  

RESPONSIBILITIES  

Drywall Installation & Repair: Measure, cut, and install drywall in accordance with project specifications. 

Metal Stud Framing: Assist with layout and installation of framing systems 

Demolition Work:  

• Dismantle structures and components using hand tools, power tools, and heavy machinery 

• Remove and clear debris from the job site to prepare for new construction 
• Follow demolition project plans and ensure compliance with safety regulations 

• General Construction Support: Assist with material handling, cleanup, and other site duties as needed. 

Communication:  

• Follow instructions accurately and efficiently 
• Communicate clearly with team members and Superintendent. 

Safety: 

• Adhere to all safety procedures and wear appropriate Personal Protective 

Equipment (PPE) 

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment 

Performance/Operations: 

• Perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods 
• Operate and maintain construction tools and equipment safely and properly 
• Work flexibly across multiple construction functions and adapt to daily job changes 

Attendance: Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and consistency in attendance. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

• High School Diploma or equivalent 
• 1 year of experience in construction or demolition preferred  
• Familiarity with power tools and basic construction equipment preferred  
• OSHA-10 Certificate is a plus
• Ability to follow direction and work within a team

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Physical Demands: Role requires frequent standing, walking (including on uneven surfaces), and climbing ladders. The employee must regularly lift or move 50  pounds. Some tasks may require sitting, using hand or power tools, or occasional crawling. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Conditions may include varying noise and light levels, temperature changes based on location and season, and occasional exposure to fumes (PPE will be provided). • Skills: Must be able to read and understand detailed written instructions. Ability to perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
