Overview
WWBeds Custom Furniture has been designing and producing high quality, custom-made furniture according to customer specifications since 1979. We have an immediate opening for a Cabinet Maker to help in all areas of the production process. This is a great opportunity to learn about woodworking, furniture making, and custom design, and is ideally suited for someone who enjoys working with their hands and learning a skilled craft.
This is an entry level position. Although woodworking experience would be a plus, no prior experience is required. The successful candidate will be trained in cabinet making.
Job Summary
The Cabinet Maker aids in the production of custom furniture, assisting as needed in all stages of the production process, from cutting of panels to final assembly, and performing a variety of general woodworking and shop maintenance tasks that contribute to the production of products meeting WWBeds’ quality standards and customer specifications.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with and learn the art of building and assembling cabinets.
- Hand sanding to break edges on wood panels.
- Orbital sanding to prep wood panels.
- Sand panels between coats of wood finish.
- Assist with loading and unloading of materials on machines.
- Carry parts for the finish department.
- Assist with final assembly and boxing of finished product; help build custom pallets.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to follow instructions and take direction well.
- Must have a willingness to learn.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficient at reading a tape measure.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to add fractions.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Knowledge of basic woodworking tools and materials.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be in good physical condition and able to:
- Carry, push, pull and lift overhead up to 70 lbs. multiple times per day.
- Stand for long periods and squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Cabinet making or woodworking experience and familiarity with woodworking tools a plus but not required.
